Shiplake Orienteering Group

What's it all about?

Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor sport that exercises mind and body. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map. In competitive orienteering the challenge is to complete the course in the quickest time choosing your own best route.

As a recreational activity, it doesn’t matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can run or walk making progress at your own pace on the courses planned to suit you.

We are in the process of starting up an orienteering group in Shiplake. If you are interested in finding out more please contact Gareth Jones on 07711 898081 or by e-mail.

September Orienteering Event

Many thanks to all who turned up to the September orienteering meeting on Wednesday 6th September. The weather was clement and, from the feedback I've had, the event was greatly enjoyed.

Don't forget that there are free orienteering training sessions throughout September on Mondaty mornings at the Memorial Field, Memorial Avenue for those aged 60+.

The October orienteering meeting will take place on Wednesday 4th October. Further details will be put on the website closer to the date.
