Westfield Crescent Bonfires and Grass Fires

Many villagers will not be aware that in the 2013 heatwave, a gardener in Westfield Crescent very stupidly decided to have a bonfire which ignited the entire garden of dead grass, garden fences were burned down, the gardener was hospitalised with 3rd degree burns at Stoke Mandeville Hosp. and the flames were licking around my shed containing petrol and a petrol mower, just feet away from my bungalow!  So it was extremely worrying this morning to be awoken early to the stench of smoke and burning in my bedroom.  Please do not have bonfires in these conditions!

I should add, my original post which I edited very soon after posting this morning, mentioned the house number of the 2013 garden grass fire but that property has had two new owners since the fire and that gardener no longer resides in the village.  I have absolutely no idea which garden the smoke was coming from this morning, I sincerely apologise if my original post upset anybody!

Thanks Elaine, we could smell this also, on Mill Road. A worrying awakening this morning.
